Septermber Kindness Calendar

On Friday your child brought home a kindness calendar for September. After reading the Kindness Quilt the 4th grade worked to togther to create acts of kindness for each day in September. Some acts of kindness are simple and require little thought or time. Others require more planning and time. Each day your child completes an act of kindness color in the day. This calendar will be shared with the school in Mrs. Buckley's next newsletter. I'd love to see any picture you have of your child's acts of kindness!

First Day

Wow! What a great 1st day. We worked really hard today and accomplished a lot. I'm exhausted and I'm sure your child is too. We read a fantastic story to start our day called "The Day You Begin." We stretched our thinking, interpreted the author's message and even found some symbolism. And this was all before 9:30. I loved seeing friends reunite, new students welcomed with smiles and enthusiasm about 4th grade.

Your child brought home a new home/school folder and some paper work to complete. Please work together with your child to empty their folder. Please return the paperwork by Friday.

I can't wait to see everyone tomorrow morning! If your child had any questions or concerns about their 1st day please call or email me mfinnerty@cbrsd.org.

One Week From Today!

Wow! In one week we will be just about finished with our first day of school! I am working really hard to put the finishing touches on our classroom. Each year I change it just a bit and this year I think the set up is the best one yet. It makes me so excited for you to see it. As I look forward to next week I'd like to share with you three things I am looking forward to this school year and three things I am looking forward to doing during my last few days of summer! I'd love to hear from you! What are you looking forward to? What do you want to do with your last few days of summer?

Three Things I am Looking Forward to this School Year

  • New books! We must have over 100 new books in our library!
  • We have a new projector in our room! No more messy cords! Hopefully I learn how to set it up and use it by the first day of school!
  • Getting to know each of you and learning with you every day!

Three Things I Want to Do During My Last Days of Summer
  • Finish the book I am reading!
  • Enjoy a beautiful day on the lake with my husband's family
  • Take a hike with my husband
You can email me at mfinnerty@cbrsd.org with your responses! See you soon!

Love,
Mrs. Finnerty
