Author Share

We are so excited to share our extreme weather books. Early next week we will publish our books and they will be ready to share. Students will receive a PDF copy of their book. It will be e-mailed to their school e-mail address. I will also directly e-mail you your child's book if you have provided me with your e-mail address. If you choose, you can take the book to Staples and have it printed in color and bound into a book. Unfortunately, we do not have access to a color printer at Kittredge. In addition, I would like to invite you to our Author Share on Friday, January 29th. Please stop by our classroom anytime between 8:45 and 11:45 or 2:15 and 2:45. If these times do not work, you may come in with your child before school (8:00 - 8:25) or after school (3:00 - 3:30). I will send home a reminder next week!

Flexible Seating

Students have enjoyed working at our standing table! Mrs. Tarjick was helping students look for text features to add into their Weather Books! Sometimes we just need to stand and stretch our legs! Working at a standing table helps burn off some energy and increase concentration.

Sometime we like to sit on the floor on a rug or cushion. This afternoon we made Valentines for service men and women.

Northeast States and Capitals Quiz

Our first map quiz will be Wednesday, January 13th. Students will be responsible for locating the Northeast States and identifying their capitals. Northeast state and capital flashcards have been added to Quizlet and students will come home today with more resources for studying. I love the app Puzzle Map! It does not break the map into regions but it's still helpful and fun. Sheppard Software (www.sheppardsoftware.com) also has some great games for practicing!

Welcome Back!

I had planned to write this post over vacation but the week got away from me and I have to admit, it was nice to unplug and step away from my computer for a bit! We had a great day of reading and relaxing on the 23rd. The hot chocolate was a hit and Home Alone, as always, was so funny! I am looking forward to all that lies ahead this school year, fractions, division, states and capitals, piloting a new Science program and continuing to grow as readers and writers! We jumped right back into our routine yesterday and it was as if we hadn't left!

Here are some pictures from our day before break! You can find the recipe for the hot chocolate here.
